The trouble with such a small group as this, is that once a few regular members get distracted by whatever crops up, the club seems to freefall, obviously downwards I've found a remarkably active and friendly group over at yourmodelrailway.net/index.php where you'll find me under the same username as here. There's lots going on and with railway modellers from all over the world, including France, there's never a dull moment. I hope to chat with you guys again soon, either here of there, so all the best and happy modelling. Bill PS. Just ordered that GWR Earl Class 32xx from Hattons, as the price of the pre-order went up £13 and may yet go a few pounds more!

Hi Bill,
Sorry to see you move off, but I am sure you will find 'Your Model Railway' and interesting and very active Forum. I was a member for a while, but I was 'drummed out of the Brownies' for not posting often enough - I am sure that will not happen to you! I wish you well and would really enjoy hearing of your experience of this other forum; it has a terrific range of resources and is probably the most active of all fora.
Do keep in touch, All the best' John

Hi John, I've not so much moved off, rather than taking part in a more active forum. I'll be popping in here to see how everyone is and what's going on. The bride discovered a railway station for sale today, whilst out walking and we were then thinking what if . . . !! Well, it is my birthday soon, haha Speak soon, Bill

It's good to know we will not lose touch - thanks! The railway station was one of my dreams too in the UK - if the birthday dream ever comes true, let me know, I'm quite good at plumbing and electrics All the best, John

Ha, I could of used your help three years ago John, when I first started resurrecting the buildings here Almost done now and am looking forward to starting on the railway room before too long, but will build a layout 'plank' soon, as the urge to build something needs scratching! At 23 000€, the old halt and part of the platform is way overpriced, but we'll be asking if the local historical association and the commune might be interested in saving it for future generations. We've some thoughts on how to make it tourist friendly and as ever, our glass is half full of vin rouge A bientot, Bill

Off to UK soon and am acquiring layout stock and possibly track that has been boxed in a loft for some years Not sure what there is although it sounds like OO scale, once I get my hands on it, if there is anything usable / of interest I'll post details of any items I don't want. All sounds very mysterious I know but that's all I have to work on at the moment.

Bonjour mes amis,
How was your trip to the UK Richard and was your treasure chest of railway items a happy discovery?
It appears as quiet as a grave here, with not much chat in le chat room, so I guess the French summer has us all outside enjoying life, the universe and everything. Jolly good and I hope we manage to exchange a few hellos soon.
All the best,
Bill

Bill hi, yes recently back from the " old country " and been without internet for sometime!!! Fixed now so fingers crossed. I had no idea what to expect and having received ' the treasure ' I now find I will have to alter my plans a little, not that I have got constructing as yet!! I have acquired a Honrby Doublo Deltic, A4 Sir Nige, and Midland City of London, Triang Brittania, Mainline Jubilee and Royal Scott, together with 19 Tinplate coaches, 12 plus Tinplate wagons, Breakdown crane, 12 plus later Plastic wagons, Hornby Doublo station buildings - metal and plastic, line side accessories and various aged track from H/D, Triang, Triang/Hornby, System 6 etc...Together with 30 plus books covering a wide range of era and regions, happy reading in the winter months I think.
I have been given the above on the basis I will, keep it,look after it and run it!!!
So before I start I will have to do some maintenance, items not been run for many years, and more pressing see what will connect, run with my existing stock which is much newer etc and mainly LNER, BR. I'm already thinking of building a separate layout within my layout to run the acquired stock, the meeting of 2 different railways or some grand branch line. I will only know when I've built my baseboard and laid out the track to see what fits etc.
A small amount of building work on the house and painting still to be completed, and of course we are inundated with visitors already, mother coming for her 3rd visit early July. I'm not down heartend, just eager to get at it!!

Vide Grenier in Abjat sur bandiat today and acquired a couple of yards of Jouef ho track and a point for € 1. yes one Euro, no idea where its going to fit in, siding probably, well it would have been rude not to, as we say. Just got an open ended let on the apartment, so access to the ' man cave ' is limited, still needs must and all that!! Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and long may it continue.

It's sometimes hard to resist a bargain and I hope your stock manages the alien turnout okay!
Hot here today as well and all our visitors are now chilling round the pool with cool refreshments, as I have another cuppa Rosie Lee.
ATB,
Bill

At last, my first visit to a model railway exhibition in over 30 years is just a few days away. Besides picking up my long awaited GWR Class 32xx Dukedog, I'll be seeing the superb Much Murkle GWR branch line, set in the 1930's like my own and get a behind the scenes look into how it all works.
I just hope the rain keeps away, although it is the UK!
Cheers m'dears,
Bill
