Hi, I'm Pete. We are located in the Retiers(35) area. I have a room which measures approx 8m x 4m which the OH has agreed can be my playroom I have thought about a model railway layout for some time and finally decided to go ahead. I don't intend to replicate any real life tracks and being me I will just make things up as I go. No doubt I will be on here asking loads of obvious questions. Hopefully there are some members in my locality. Pete.

Welcome aboard Pete, and thank you for responding to the PM. Looks as though you are between Rennes and Chateaubriant, I hope there are some members in that area who will post you. Looking forward to hearing of future developments, do post some pictures when you have them, and let me know if you have any problems uploading them. There is a message about pictures on the Forum, and I want to encourage members to add images whenever they can, this is a great medium to share information and the visual stuff has more impact. All the best John

Hi Pete and welcome to our little home from home, Well done you with the successful negotiations with the OH and I wish you joy with your freestyle layout. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you wish, as you will always receive friendly and helpful responses here. These are some useful general model railway website which you may find of interest: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/page/home.htmlwww.irail.co.uk/yourmodelrailway.net/index.phpwww.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?act=homeMy own particular field of interest is the Great Western Railway of the 1920s and 30s and I'm sure you'll get tuned into an era and scale before too long. I'm about 140km south east of you, near Saumur and am looking forward to visiting my first French model railway exhibition sometime in the not too far distance. All the best and speak soon, Bill

Hi Pete , I am also building my first layout which is very much freestyle. I have a habit of building first then drawing the plan! As I have posted before, I use Hattons of Liverpool to supply the bits and peices as the postage and prices are very reasonable. I am sure that if you have any problems the forum will help out. Best wishes Brian
