Well that's about where I've got to myself! Having been allocated a room in our new house, as opposed to the large garden shed - however that will be useful when I get round to the LGB in the garden. Now to compound things I have to divide my room space to accommodate N, Om and OO and as I write this I think I'll have to put N on a Noch proforma board, the Om will end up in the shed when it's weather proofed, leaving OO in my said room. Ultimately I'd like to run around the room twin track mainline with a branch line, freight yard and mpd, mainline station with the odd halt. It will be mainly LNER with visiting / on loan loco's and stock, era end of grouping / early BR ( can't remember what I've got ) . Now all I need to do is make a deal with the Lady of the house that allows me time each week to work on my projects, I suspect in exchange for progress on the house, roll on the new year and getting started....he says hopefully. Richard.

Well done Black 5 and Longchap, your posts and ideas are just what we need to keep the forum going. i have spent the day working on a footbridge, I didn't realise just how long it would take but the end is in sight. I am now several buildings and a control panel into the project having finished the baseboard and wiring. The challenge is going to be connecting it all up! I just hope I can get the layout into the space allocated within the house, several sharp bends and a curved staircase could make it difficult. All additions to the basic layout are to be fixed in place after installation in complete. i find it interesting solving the problems as I go having very little experience of railway modelling. As I will only work during the winter I expect to take a couple of years to complete the project after which I will probably modify it to keep my interest going. keep up the good work, Brian

I'm working on getting the house ship shape ASAP, as once that's done I will be able to have the time I need to work on my own room. The good lady is off back to the UK next week for a couple of weeks so I get to crack on with the jobs list and ultimately get at my railway's!! sooner, still given we only arrived here in November I feel I won't get started proper for several months yet!! I will be going back to the UK in June probably to service the car etc, so scope for Train fares and shopping abound, another thing to look forward to.....as I dare not look at eBay, well maybe if I can find some more Om outline!!

Well here we are almost a year on and after 3 days in the ' Man Cave ' I have a few pics of the progress so far on the OO layout boards, I apologise in advance to those detail fans, when I have worked out a track plan the buildings etc are all Horby Dublo metal and plastic pre formed units, hey ho its what I have and have been given. I may at some time in the future add a line - across the divide - time will tell. The frame was made out of 3 bed headboards and 2 chests of draws, most left by the previous owners of our house, and 4" x 3" leftovers from some false walls I built, topped off with 19mm chipboard, yes I know it will be noisy, most of my youth layouts were the same, so home from home. The right hand photo is after a base coat of paint has been applied, not quite dry yet!!, just to afford a neutral background. The board length on the right is 3.6mtr x 1.2mtr long and across the window its 3.25mtr, 2.7mtr x 1,2mtr on the left. Right, I need a beer now, happy model making - running all in 2016, Richard.

Hi Richard, It all looks good to me, you have made a lot of progress. I wish I could say the same. I have made the static applicator and started on the poly cutter but am waiting for the boss to decide where she wants the furniture putting as it is in my way! I hope we will see you soon for a chat and a cuppa, Brian

Hi Richard,
Well done with great progress on the man cave. You're up and at it and undoubtedly having fun. The room's a good size and I like the U shape boards which give so much scope for really interesting modelling on an end to end layout and I'm sure you'll find a plan to use all that stock.
I've been concentrating recently on a small practice 'plank' layout with just a few metres of track and four points. The track work is taking a while, as I'm re-spacing all the sleepers of the Peco track to correct GWR distances. Good fun though and it's really good to get back to some modelling after all these years.
Good luck and have fun,
Bill
