Fairly new to this forum business and have had a problem getting *.jpg to appear much bigger than a thumbnail in my message. I wonder if someone could post a thorough explanation about inserting pictures, files, videos, etc., for those of us who are not totally 'au fait' with such procedures. I would like to post some photos of my layout progress for example, but have been unable to get them to a suitable size (physical dimensions) for them to be useful. I think it would also help new members who, like me, may be in the guard's van regarding IT, what do you think?
All the best
John

"Hi John,
welcome to the forum. The problem with the pictures is that this a free forum so we are very limited in what we can show/do. The only way around that is for me to subscribe and pay for a full account but then nobody would pay to join the forum. If we had a corporate sponsor that would be a different kettle of fish. As it is I prefer to keep it free.
As for posting pictures of your layout or work in progress etc, here are my suggestions
1. you can open an account of Flickr or Photobucket where you can post almost unlimited photos and give your password to members so they can see the pictures.
2. ask memebers who want to see the pictures to send you their email address and reply to them individually
3. create a new email account for yourself on whatever service you prefer (just so you don't have to give away your private email address) and you could send the pictures to members from there.
Your original question was forwarded to me as admin but you can post the same question on the General Bulletin Board and see what other members suggest as they are in contact with each other regulraly as you will see when you read their posts.
Good luck and Happy New Year
Berty"
I know I am a new member, but I feel quite strongly that pictures would attract more active members, people want to see what we are talking about and to see their own work on screen. There was a post about Southern Region signal box, which did have good pictures, and I was curious to know how it was done, I wonder how other members feel about this?
Just checked - Brian and Doug have both posted very good pictures of card kits which expand when clicked.
All the best
