Having been in France permanently for the last 2 years and having got the building of our home to a level where I can look at my hobbies at last I thought I would stick my head over the parapet and say hello. My N-gauge winter scene set up is a bit worse for wear after the move and being ill stored. So I guess the first job is restoration and then convert to digital.

Hi G3,
Welcome, first new member this year! Good luck with your layout restoration - what system will you use for DCC? I have the Bachmann system on my 00 layout, I quite like it but keeping the batteries charged for the remote is a bit of a bind. It would be great to see some pics as you progress, and perhaps you could post layout updates in the "Members Layouts" section.
Whereabouts are you? Anywhere near Chabanais?
All the best John

Hi Graham,
Next time you visit Soleil Couchant, if you would like to meet up, let me know you are coming and I will join you for a pint or a nosh. It's only 15 minutes or so from my house, so you could come and have a look at my unfinished layout if you wish.
All the best John

Hi John, Thanks for the call, to the best of my knowledge the nearest model rail stockist to you is in Limoges, and Limoges has a large model rail club where the members are very helpful. However, at the Limoges club and here on the Forum I have not noticed anyone with an interest in MTH gear. Your best bet might be to visit their Facebook page (it exists at www.facebook.com/mthelectrictrains/ ) or the Hornby forum ( www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum )and put your question there. If you want a chat on simple possible solutions you are welcome to call me on land line 0517 231468. All the best John

john, thanks. Was a member of Hornby forum, for several years, until it developed Moderatoritis. Every second post was a moderator. Not allowed to join facebook, by SWmbo. Had not looked at Limoges, did find a shop inLyon. The fact you are by the water, are tou a fisherman, as Fly Fishing, is my other passion, john

Hi John, Shame about forums and moderators, they get pissed with power I guess. At this link ( mthtrains.com/catalogs-new ) there is a downloadable catalog and the last 2 pages contain MTH address for their online helpdesk - that might be useful. Afraid I am not a fisherman, too long at sea! To make up for my longing for the sea again, when I got back from collecting a friend from the airport today my short road (alongside a moulin on the Vienne) was closed for access due to flooding - ever get the feeling you were being watched? THe Limoges model shop is at ( shop.minimodels.fr/index.php? ) All the best John
