Hello, thank you for the welcome, I am new to railway modelling so will have a lot to learn from members of the group. I live in Brittany, dept 22, and would be interested in joining any club in the locality.

Hello David, If you have any questions, try and find the right thread to post them, and I am sure members will help wherever they can. I am not sure how many of our members are as far north as Brittany, but if I spot any interesting exhibitions and clubs up there I will let you know. I found it very helpful to join a French railway modelling club in Limoges, not far from where I live here in France, and was made very welcome. Food at their events often trumps railway activities, but it is a good way to get an angle on the French life, and get insider knowledge of events and suppliers that an outsider may find it hard to locate. A further thought, if you are new to the hobby and, since you are in France, I can recommend the cheapest model rail magazine available here (details at www.clespourletrainminiature.com ) I mention it because if you take out a short term subscription, the first issue comes complete with a full-scale layout plan and each subsequent issue contains details of how to develop the layout, including the readily available French brands of familiar modelling tools and materials. It also lists he forthcoming exhibitions all over France. Although the track plan is for an HO scale layout, we use the same track formats in OO, so the track plan is useful whether you wish to model British outline or Continental. Hope this is helpful. David Hi David, There are these guys in Ploulec'h, they had an exhibition in September that I went along to - boats and trucks and other things as well as trains, but a good show. They seem to do it every year. I haven't made any move towards joining them (a bit too far away). Worth looking at the articles page. We've only been here three months, and I haven't had time to look for other clubs yet. Cheers, Eric |
